Depuis\, la chanteuse stakhanoviste dévoile son personnage avec plus d’autonomie et sort enfin de l’ombre envahissante de son ancien Pygmalion. Cinq albums solo à son actif\, et elle ne rechigne devant aucune collaboration – notamment avec les énervés de Neurosis. Elle célèbre d’ailleurs cette façon de travailler à travers son dernier-né\, intitulé The Men Album\, sur lequel elle dévoile une pléthore de compli­cités musicales\, exclusivement mascu­lines et de premier choix: Blixa Bargeld d’Einstürzende Neubauten\, Steve Von Till de Neurosis\, Alan Sparhawk de Low\, Edward KaSpel des Legendary Pink Dots\, Jim Thirlwell alias Fœtus… La liste est longue sur ce double album qui a exigé six années de travail. \nLa performance a toujours été une caractéristique forte du travail de Jarboe. Avec les Swans\, elle apparaissait comme une icône funeste. Sérieux contraste avec sa simplicité à la ville – vieux t-shirt et pantalon trop court.
